Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hello All,

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes back in September. Presently using a combination of Metformin and Gliclazide plus diet and exercise to control my blood glucose.

I'm still trying to get my head around the do's / don'ts of what to eat though.

Jim

Welcome to the forum, Jim.

I suggest having a read through the link below.

http://www.diabetessupport.co.uk/boards/showthread.php?t=10406

That will hopefully provide answers to some of your questions. For any others that you have, ask away!

Personally, I found that the NHS run course called Diabetes X-Pert was extremely useful for me. Also being able to test my glucose readings at different times was also extremely helpful in working out what I could and couldn't eat.

Well, I hope you find us welcoming and helpful!

Andy 🙂

Hello - you will find there is life here - but not as we know it, Jim !

Welcome to the Forum - I hope you will find it as useful as I have. Please feel free to ask questions, join in with the advice or rant - what you will.

Sorry to hear you've had to join the Big D Club but they are {mostly !} a friendly lot.

How are you managing to cope with your diagnosis ? All best wishes,

Hi Jim and a warm welcome from me to the forum, you will find all the support you need in this place, its tough when your newly diagnosed things run around in your head and you feel very alone, but when i joined being newly diagnosed this place was my life line and still is x

Welcome to the forum and I agree with all the above comments.

Explore the boards and dip in and out of threads. Some will answer questions you hadn't though of - if you know what I mean.

No question is too stupid - and actually it makes those of us who can answer some of the questions feel good about ourselves!!

Hi Jim,

Like yourself I was diagnosed in November and it is quite daunting but this Forum is a great help with anything you need to know as i don't know about you but my GP has not been much help.
