Adding to the mass of previous evidence, a new paper in the NEJM. Thread from one of the authors:


In summary, for patients requiring lipid-lowering meds:
i) There is *no* evidence of cognitive impairment over the longer term
ii) The proven cardiovascular benefits of lowering LDL-C must outweigh any speculative risks
 
Gil Cavalhao has a convenient little piece briefly going over low cholesterol in the blood & brain function and the different question of whether statins (and other meds) can have a cognitive effect via reduction of cholesterol production in the brain.

 
A few weeks taking Atorvastatin and Metformin blitzed my memory - do they have any explanation for that?
