Just to let you all know that at the moment the twice daily M3 seems to be working with my son. When I say working, I mean he is conforming. That is definitely a step in the right direction in my mind.
He is due back at clinic again next week and we dropped his blood test off at the GPs today so he will get his HbA1c again next week. No doubt I will have to wait for the follow up letter to find out the exact figure, but I really do hope we see a positive improvement. It will only reflect 3 weeks on the new regime though.
The letter following his last appointment did acknowledge his doses are probably too low at the moment, but they were mindful of just getting him used to injecting twice a day before tweaking it. He isn't testing of course, so we have no figures to work on, but I am going to drop into conversation this afternoon that perhaps he should do a few tests before seeing his consultant again next week.
He does inject twice daily almost every day, he just seems to skip occasionally when due out on a drinking session. He alarms me just how much he can put away on an average night out with his mates, I have now witnessed it first hand. He has run out of money this month already though, so hopefully will have a much quieter social life for the next few weeks!
Still, as I have said before, it's little steps. I feel more positive about it now, and just hope the HbA1c reflects that. It can't get much worse anyway, it was 12.6 last month. Fingers crossed.
