Hi everybody,

My name's MJ and I used to frequent these forums regularly until I moved abroad and forgot... It's good to see there are still some names I recognise!

I got a pump 3 weeks ago and am currently living in Korea and trying to learn everything I can about pumping - I'm not finding it too easy and would really appreciate a place to ask some day-to-day questions!

Now that I am back, I would like to stick around a bit longer 🙂

Hi mj lovely to see you back amongst us again hun x wow moved abroad as well do u enjoy it?

Hi MJ! How lovely to hear from you again! 🙂 Wow, Korea! I'm guessing it's not North Korea 😱 Are you teaching still?

Great news about the pump - which model do you have? We've got lots of pumpers here these days and I'm confident they can help you with any questions you may have, so ask away. Do you have the book Pumping Insulin by John Walsh? It's supposed to be very good.

I look forward to hearing more from you! 🙂

Hi Steff 🙂 Good to see you! And Northerner!! Glad to see the poetry and diabotics are still going strong!

Yes - South Korea, still teaching and enjoy it mostly!

I feel a long way from home right now though with this pumping malarkey! No, I haven't read that book, but I will invest if it's a recommendation.... And I will ask away... Been having some issues with high readings the last few days and really not sure why...

Hello MJ, I'm really pleased to see you back again. I was only thinking of you the other day and wondering how you were getting on.

Congratulations on the pump. Which one do you have, also do you have the book pumping insulin by John Walsh (Amazon) ? If not make it a priority purchase as it's known as the pumpers bible.

Welcome back......

I want to ask what it is like pumping in Korea but you wouldn't really have a comparison to here....

The first thing to consider/eliminate is your basal rates throughout the day.....

What your thoughts on them at the moment......?

🙂

Hi MJ, welcome back. Whereabouts in Korea? I worked there briefly some years back and was based in Seoul.

We've plenty of pumpers around who should be able to help, they have a whole area too that you should investigate. The threads may contain a lot of the answers you need.

Welcome back Munjeeta 🙂

Hi everybody, thanks for the welcomes!

Pumper Sue, it's great to see you agin too 🙂 I have the Medtronic Paradigm 712 - quite an old model I think??

AlisonM, I live in Busan. I love Seoul though!

Novorapidboi, you are right, I have no England/ Korea comparisons, but what I do know is that I'm struggling a little right now! It's all so new, so I hope I will get more confident as time goes on. It's little things like ordering new supplies (I was supposed to receive a delivery yesterday but didn't...) I am trying to get my basal rates sorted during the night as my first stop... But I don't seem to be seeing patterns. I have had a few days of really high readings, so have changed my cannula a couple of times to see if it's that... I guess it might be stress too, I'm not feeling too chilled out right now!! How long did it take you to get your basal rates under control?

I didn't get to spend much time in Busan, but did have a chance to explore Taejongdae a little. Most of my time was spent in Seoul. Have you got the taste for Kimchi yet?

Yes - love it! Although it did take me a while! I love Korean food in general and it's quite easy to eat out and not be completely unhealthy which I find refreshing!
