Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hello!

The names Liz, and i'm a Type 1 Diabetic.

I was diagnosed about a month both my 18th birthday. So approx 2 years ago now.

I've had DKA 3 times in the last 8 months. Each time been in a coma for about 4 days.

I haven't controlled my diabetes much since i was diagnosed, i guess maybe i was in denial! I've recently started a new diet though, and realised that me eating healthier makes me in general, feel a lot happier in myself. (No more headaches and fuzzy, cloudy head!).

That's me for now anyway...I will hopefully spend some time in here, make some new friends in similiar situations..and get support 🙂

Hi Liz and welcome to the forum - we have a few members who admit to going through a denial stage.

Glad that you have started to tackle your diabetes and are feeling better.

Have a good look around and ask as many or as few questions as you feel you need.

Hi Liz. Welcome 🙂

Hope you can put the highs behind you and gradually improve your control for your future.

Hi and welcome.

My father had poor control and I watched him suffer the consequences of diabetes related complications. As a result, I'm careful, and I sin sometimes. I try and burn sins off with walkies!

May I suggest you ask your team to put you on some courses? Knowledge is power!

Welcome to the forum Liz. You will certainly have plenty of support on here. 🙂
