🙂Hi have learned a lot from this forum. Thanks. I was diagnosed out of the blue in Oct with having no symptoms at all put straight on a statin and metformin but have failed on a full dose of 1000 twice a day so put back to 500 morn and night as side effects were just to bad. Have to have full bloods done early March then see chronic disease sister a week later at my surgery when she will decide what to do next. She did check my feet in Oct as I don't and never will have full feeling in my feet due to a spine op where I still have a problem so that is a bit frightening. I lost my Mum to Diabetes 15 years ago and she was T1 before I was born and I was expected to get T1 when I was young - now 55. Have bought Gretchen Becker book that everybody seems to recomend, waiting for eye check just been to a group new T2 session with a Dietician but just the same as in the info already given. I did insist on a monitor which I got but told not to use it too much!!! After reading the forum I knew that it was essential for me to have one. Thanks for keeping me sane and straight.

Hi Sheila and welcome to the forum. I discovered this little gem just after a shock diagnosis in November, feels like home here now 🙂

Welcome Sheila,

I've found many really knowledgeable and supportive people here and I'm sure that you will too.

Andy 🙂

G'day Sheila

Waddaya mean - "when I was young - now 55"; I was dx at that age nearly nine years ago 🙂
I did insist on a monitor which I got but told not to use it too much!!! After reading the forum I knew that it was essential for me to have one. Thanks for keeping me sane and straight.
Glad you see it as essential. That advice to not use it too much sounds like the sort of advice given to adolescent boys - and just as sensible.

This may help you use it more effectively (click on it): Test, Review, Adjust.

Hi Sheila, welcome from a fellow newbie who now automatically comes straight to this site when put computer on each day,it sooooooooooo great to speak to other diabetics,as i'v had such conflicting info from the professionals since Type 2 diagnosis last month.I asked for a meter and was told not to use it very much,so have phases.good luck with everything
Sandy

Hi and welcome to the forum🙂

Hi Shiela and welcome 🙂

then see chronic disease sister a week later at my surgery when she will decide what to do next.
.

Don't they have a healthy sister you can see?

Thanks for keeping me sane and straight.
.
Afraid there's not much hope of that here, from what I've experienced of several posters - you know who you are!
.
All is not lost however - there are some sensible ones on these pages willing to share experiences; just let us know if you find one !! 😱

Hi Sheila and welcome to the forum.

I was diagnosed in November 2010 and stumbled upon this wonderful site.
Everybody is so supportive and no question is deemed silly. I've learned so much in the short time I've been here.

Donna 🙂
