Hi there I'm new to the forums, I was advised I had type 2 diabetes just over a year ago and put on Metformin, I will be honest and say I didn't take it seriously, I have a sweet tooth and a love of cake along with PTSD and depression.
I have recently had my annual review and as expected it wasn't good, my h1bac was 115, time to take it seriously, the Dr has put me on Mounjaro (tirzepatide) which I'm due to collect on Tuesday, I must admit I'm a bit overwhelmed and concerned about some of the possible unpleasant side effects.

So that's me..

Definitely time to take it seriously to minimise the unpleasant consequences of having high blood glucose.
What a shame you didn't tackle your diet before, I suspect you were not given good advise about reducing carbohydrates in your diet.
If you are willing to do some baking then there are recipes for low carb cakes on the website sugarfreelondoner which may satisfy your sweet tooth but it is still a good idea to reduce the sweet things and your tastes will change when you do.
There are still plenty of foods you can eat which are tasty and filling, have a look at this link for some ideas for modifying your diet. https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/

Hi @Defiant_Turtle and welcome to the forum!

I'm so sorry to hear those results, it must have been an unpleasant wake up call in a way and I'm sure the year you've had was difficult as is. I know making changes, especially quite drastic ones, could be challenging with everything else you've got going on, but please know that the forum here is really supportive as there are people who have been where you are and know how to help. Users will have plenty of advice from years and years of gathered knowledge and experience, so any worries or questions - please ask away. Also, keep in mind, that different things work for different people. Some set goals for themselves and go step by step. Others make big changes in all areas of their lives, to turn everything around for themselves. Find what works for you, there's plenty of information both in the forum and on the website, so have a look and if you can't find something specific - post it on a thread and someone is sure to help! Diet, exercise or any other lifestyle choices, both big and small, will make a difference, so please take care of yourself and know that you're not alone in this!
