Hello everyone,

Very nice to meet you all virtually!

Relatively new T2D here - diagnosed formally last week of February 2021.

My initial HbA1c was 88 and the most recent results received just the other day was 51. Blood pressure was also a concern but now tracking normal; have lost 18lbs in weight, with 12 to go.

I'm testing my BG every day and fasting blood glucose runs between 5.9 to 6.0 and after eating in the very low 5s.

Have slight neuropathy in two of my toes but kidney function is normal.

On Metformin 500mg twice per day and one 2.5mg Ramipril.

Diet has been changed wholesale with a low carb focus and beer consigned to the rubbish bin. Seems to be working.

Looking forward to learning from the gurus here and sharing/comparing experiences on our respective diabetic journeys.

Welcome. I'm new to this as well (mid march 21) there's a lot of info on here and questions are answered simply and with good advice.

Thanks very much, looks a great resource. Appreciate the welcome.

Welcome. I was diagnosed at about the same time as you. You seem to be making great progress.

Hi @Clifton and welcome.
It sounds like you already have your T2 well on the way to remission. Provided that your current 'way of eating' is sustainable for you.
So you are now (in my view) a guru in your particular form of Type 2 Diabetes. We T2's are all different and so have different tolerances for Carbohydrates and indeed particular foods - so being an expert in our own personal form of T2 is all we can expect to achieve.

Hi, I am new here but I hope you can say as I do all make you so welcome. I feel they help you overcome the barrier. I have put so many around me but I am grateful to have this place. You have done well and good luck with the journey.

Congratulatins on your terrific progress so far @Clifton

Whatever you are doing seems to be working really well for you!

Sorry to hear about the changes in nerve sensations in your toes. Hope your stabilised blood glucose readings help slow or stop the progress of any changes.

Hope all's well with you too. Progress is steady thankfully; it's a mightily tough road to hoe, as some days seem better than others, but overall heading in the right direction...

Much appreciated...hopeful as I get the BG stabilised some of the nerve damage will sort itself out.

Hi there, yes I've looked around the forum and it's a veritable encyclopedia with lots of great folks sharing.

Hope you have a good journey too!

Well said. It's a condition which is highly individual in its effects I've come to realise in the few short weeks I've been formally diagnosed.

My menu is evolving each day - which is based on regular self BG testing so I know what works and what doesn't. For example, 2 spelt oatcakes on occasion don't spike me. However, a slice of wholemeal toast will batter me sideways...a learning curve for sure!
