Get yourself a notebook or a diary and a pen. You will get a lot of numbers thrown at you and it might help to keep a record of who said what and when.

Hello @Craine1979 welcome to the forum. Yes it’s a good idea to have a notebook and take this withyouto appointments, you can use this not only to write info down but also to write your own questions in so you don’t walk out of appointments and think * oh I should have askeed that *

It’s carbs we need to watch out for.

You will see on here and other places LCHF = low carb high fat, what’s meant by the high fat is not guzzling down loads of it , far from it , it’s normal good fats , ie things that are deliberately made to be lowin fat eg some low fat yogurts are often higher in carbs than the normal yogurts to make them more palatable, personally I still find them insipid.

I assume you have type 2 as in your post T2 , it says T1 under where your Avatar would be , our admin can alter this if you wish , put @ Northener, without a space in a post here with a message and he will be able to change it.

Ask as many questions about diabetes as you need to, we’ll do do our best to help.

How did you come to be diagnosed

Oh , take a bag with you , I came away from my first appointment with loads of leaflets.

It might be helpful if you had someone you trust go with you apart from the support a second pair of ears helps an awful lot when your being given loads of info .

Another thought. Look up HBA1C on this site or elsewhere and get to grips with it. Its the thing that is measured in a blood test used to diagnose diabetes and its value gives a measure of where in the diabetes spectrum you are. Won't try and explain it here but if you look at posts on this forum you will find it mentioned a lot - it's your baseline for monitoring progress.

What meds are you on and how’s your HbA1C?

Are you can drop the weight again I’m sure.

Lovely to see you posting again @Craine1979

Goodness! What an adventure you’ve been on!

Sorry to hear how Covid scuppered all your good work.

But the good news is that you managed to tame the beast before, so you’ll have some good insight as to what worked for you before - and now you have additional meds to help you out too 🙂

Low carb is a good way to get healthier and lose a few kg. Looks like you did it already. Lots of good advice on here. Sorry you had a covid nightmare.
