Diagnosed type 2 last Friday after second bg test (HB1AC) came back as 7.3...apparently if I was under 7 (6-7) i would be pre-diabetic. I'm sad and disappointed but mainly furious with myself. If I had exercised and ate properly after the first test, I would probably not be classed as DB. My first test was 8.5! so I had a drop of 1.2. Just another 0.3 would've kept me at 'pre'.

I have really ramped up my exercise regime. Jogging 3 miles per day, slowed down my sugar intake. My meter readings are now: Morning (pre-Brekky) usually about 6 or less. 2 hours before meal 5.5. 2 hours after a meal 7.0.

I am on diet and exercise only and still trying to come to grips on how DB is going to impact my life.

Hi Premiere, and welcome! As steff says, you have some pretty good numbers there so keep up the good work! Many people are able to keep good control on diet and exercise for many years, and of course this is better for your health generally in the long run, so hopefully when the shock and anger has mellowed you will see a silver lining. 🙂

Welcome to the forum but sorry to hear that you have joined the diabetic world. Try to be kind to yourself - you may have had room for improvement in your diet and exercise before the test in your view but your meter readings would be envied by many on this board. Why not congratulate yourself on what you have done well and then build on that

Hi Premiere - you sound like you are feeling exactly the same as i did when first diagnosed. Your numbers are good though and so if you can improve on those you will probably find you can control with diet and exercise anyway. I was also really angry at myself but am finding these days its not so bad - it certainly isnt the end of the world. Keep up the good work and for any nutritional advice visit the diabetes uk website - they have lots of good info on there.

i think if you can control it via exercise and diet then that is fantastic....we should all be fitter and healthier for sure...i would be very very happy if my test came back with that kind of news...well done
