Morning, I hope everyone is doing well. Just had my breakfast consisting of 3 slices of Rye bread and a Hot cross bun with a cup of tea. Did my usual early morning walk - it was cold and crisp , perfect for walking. I must say this week seems to have to sped past. Now to do a lot of chores today, curtains to change, washing to be done, windows to clean etc. I must say that my head does feel a tad bit heavy at times, I will discuss this with my doc. It's not a headache, it more like as if I have something a little bit heavy on my head.
Have to get new strips for my bg machine. I have decided to give self testing a try. At least I will learn more about my blood sugar levels in the morning etc. I was also considering getting a blood pressure machine, although my pressure is tested regularly, every little helps. I feel that making having those additions will give me a sense of empowerment.

Good morning Rustee, good to hear that you have been up and about and enjoyed your walk 🙂 If you are going to start self-testing, I'd suggest having a read of Test,Review, Adjust by Alan S so that you can make the most efficient use of the strips to gain the most knowledge. As for the BP monitor, I have found mine to be a very useful 'prompt' to tell me when I have perhaps not been on my best behaviour and the numbers creep a little high! Make sure you get one with an arm cuff though, as these are much more accurate than the wrist ones 🙂

Hi Rustee.

It sounds like you're really doing well and working hard. All positives.🙂

It's possible that the heavy head feeling is due to the spike from the hot cross bun.

It's a lot of carbs to be eating for breakfast and I would imagine a fair few calories too. Hot cross buns are generally quite high GI (quick to digest and send glucose into your bloodstream) and the fruit is notorious for spikes too. Don't want to be a party pooper but if you could repalce the hot cross bun with some protein, it might help your head to clear. But do discuss it with your doctor.🙂

Hi, Thanks for the positive feedback. I am eating more rye bread as it has more fibre and is better and healthier for me. Hot Cross Buns is a rarity. At the moment I am focusing on weight loss. I have all but eliminated red meat from my diet. The meat I mainly eat now is chicken. Fizzy drinks area no-no.

Back just before my pre-diagnosis days, I recall I would have breakfast at 11am which consisted of sausages (or fish fingers) and coleslaw. with some eggs. I would gorge on that and then zonk out afterwards, then no food until 5pm and a hefty supper. It got to the point that after supper I could not go out, I had no energy. Now, I got an abundance of energy....
Thankfully my eating habits have improved since then🙂

Hot x buns

Hi Rustee, I agree with Robster65. I have cut out hot x buns as I found my levels shoot up with them, however as you was going on a walk and doing lots of cleaning you may need something that is slow releasing.
Natb 🙂
