Yesterday I had my annual review, although it was actually 2 years since I last went. All went ok, ratios changed a bit as she's not happy about amount of hypos, she's delighted with my HbA1c of 7.5 and I'm not but we always disagree on that one. She highly recommends the Libre Sensor for me and I am having a 2 week trial soon - but no way can I afford it myself! Worth a shot to see what it is all about though. I have seen threads on here before so will have a little read later.

I told her about my hand swelling etc and she has referred me to rheumatology so I await that appointment too.

I was also told that they no longer do urinalysis which I was surprised at. Is this the same countrywide? I have had protein show up a few times, how do they know things like that if they don't test it?

The Libre trial should be good.....

I wouldn't make good use of it but my clinic don't offer trials, would be nice to be offered at least....😉

No idea about the urinalysis - and no it isn't countrywide - although they stopped dipping it for protein they still have to test urine for Albumin to Creatinine ratio. I thought that was an 'essential test' fo kidney function. Thing is unless you have symptoms of a UTI it is a waste of time - since you still have to make an appt to see your GP and dip it again, even if it's that high there's defo an infection, the clinic don't prescribe or dispense anything.

No you should definitely be having a urine albumin/creatinine ratio done at your annual check. Protein in the urine is often the earliest indicator of a kidney issue, and if it's persistent they can start you on an ACE inhibitor to prevent problems.

Ok, I will ask about this at my next GP appointment.
