I just wanted to ask as many have had more then me but is it down to myself to make the appointment on my exact diagnosis or any date around my diagnosis date.I guess i dont get a reminder letter or nothing that would be asking to much .

With me they made the next appointment when I went to my last one, but that was the clinic and it might work differently with a GP. No harm in ringing and finding out what the procedure normally is. When I was diagnosed a number of people at the GP surgery acted as though I should know all about what I needed to do and what would be done for me. Before diagnosis I honestly couldn't remember when I last had a prescription, but probably when I broke my leg 5 years ago, and before that when I broke my arm 14 years ago, so I had no idea!

With my GP it is a bit hit and miss. At my last review because I had to sort out meds I spent half an hour listening to the nurse and all her problems instead of sorting me out medically...

My surgery generally tell me at the last one when I should go back for the next one - so when I went in September they said I need to go back in March - so up to me to make the appointment really. Not that I mind as I always find that gives me a little 'leeway'....

I normally have a review every 4 months unless my Doctor want's to see me earlier or later than that. I usually book the next one in advance after my appointment.

I get a note on my repeat prescription, or a call from the surgery. Going next week 😱 Still haven't lost extra weight I put on last year and Bs has been all over the place over Christmas and still having probs with morning readings, fiddling with basal doses arghhh!

Right well im dropping of other halves script tomorrow while im there ill go and have a word.

The DN books my next appointment during the consultation and the Practice give me a reminder call a couple of day's before it's due. If blood tests required they write requesting I make an appointment.

If you didn't book the appointment I am sure they would phone you up pretty quickly to make one as they want to get your points.

I go 6 monthly to the hospital so don't have a yearly review, most of my bloods are done each time. My feet haven't been checked for more than a year though, so will have to get them checked next time.

After registering 18 months ago my GP surgery has finally contacted me for an annual review!! I am absolutely dreading it as nurses always treat you like the village idiot - so should be fun!
I have been having reviews at the hospital which why I haven't bothered about GP - I shall be asking them why it has taken them 18 months though! Rubbish! I shall let you know how it goes - my blood will probably be boiling - but hey ho! Not till March! Actually it will be 21 months by then! Really rubbish!

Got my appointment.

Im booked in for 09.30 on the 10th of Feb .Im not seeing my gp though what a surprise but the lady doc i have seen before.I dont know if anyone knows but does it matter if its the nurse or the GP that does our review???

Cheers

Hi Steff, glad you got an appointment. A nurse, specialising in Diabetes, does my reviews. However, when I discussed the difficulties I was having with high morning readings and how I was adjusting my basal dose, she said she couldn't advise about changing insulin doses, so to email the hospital DSN.

I would say it doesn't matter who does it as long as all the correct checks and tests are done. The Dr could refer you to the nurse if there is something that is better approached by her. Hope it goes well
