I went for my annual review today. I have been having problems with injecting the lantus in my legs due to lumpy sites and was told to inject in my back in the area above my buttocks but very low down the back, basically the handles region :D. I have never been told to inject there before but will give it a go tonight.

I told her about the stinging sensation I have been getting in my right little toe and she said that I have neuropathy :(. She recommended that I take amitriptyline for this but I have said I would prefer not to take any more tablets for the time being so will hold off on this unless it gets worse. Anyone else taking tablets for neuropathy?

We have tried everything to straighten out my mid morning bloods to no avail and she said to stop eating cereals and to go for a mix of carbs and protein. This makes total sense but I love my cereals. Any advice as to the 'best' cereals to eat for not having a major effect on BG. Due to IBS I can't tolerate anything too wheaty on a regular basis.

Basically a good annual review for her listening skills but not so great in other areas. Have had my HbA1c done again today and get my results on Wednesday. This was only done in December though but she said this was now out-of-date so hoping this may be slightly better.

Hi Newbs, just a suggestion re: cereal. Have you tried Grape-Nuts? I regularly have about 100g of fat free fruit yogurt for breakfast, with just 10g of GN stirred in. Total carbs about 16g. Sometimes I use vanilla Muller Light and throw in a handful of berries as well.

I haven't, no. Have heard of them and will give them a go though, thanks. The consultant recommended I have steak and toast - steak for breakfast!

Hi Newbs, hope you asked the consultant if he was paying for the steak 😱

Scrambled egg, bacon, tinned toms, mushrooms... virtually no carbs and done in minutes. I'm drooling now!
