I go for my annual check up tomorrow when I see the DR as well as the DN. To be honest I'm dreading it because I've been in a funny mood for ages and have tried to ignore everything so I have gained weight. My question is, can anyone remember the name of the fairly new medication for type 2 that is taken by injection? I can remember Byetta but not the newer drug. As you know I am an idiot when trying to swallow the huge metformin tabs but have no problems with needles. I am hoping Dr will change my medication.

Good luck Ivy I hope they treat you well! And you get the drugs you want.

All the best

Good luck with your appointment I hope you manage to talk to your DSN and Dr about how you've been feeling. Sometimes even just talking about things helps.
The drug is called Victoza made by Novo Nordisk, once a day injectable drug similar to Byetta. If you are seen at your Gp's then I'd say s/he won't prescribe it as it's so new and Byetta is often only prescribed by hospital consultants. If you are seen at the hospital then you might be able to get it prescribed.

Hope it goes well let us know how you get on

good luxk with appointment hope you get the medication your after x

Well, I'm in shock!!! I've been for my check up and to say I'm chuffed is an understatement! Despite my funny mood, somehow my hbalc is down to 5.9!!!!!! And I have no idea how! I stopped the Simvastatin because of the side effects. It is down a bit (again no idea how!) but Dr has now put me on Ezetrol. The weight is still a problem but as the D is so well controlled is reluctant to start Byetta.

im waiting on gps answer as to weather or not i get byetta ivygirl , so its in his hands at the moment

anyways well done on reduction in hba thats great news x
