Hi Anne, welcome to the forum 🙂 Very sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but glad you have found us - hopefully we can calm some of your fears and clear up the confusions for you. I'd suggest starting by looking at the various links in our 'Useful Links' thread, particularly Maggie Davey's letter and Jennifer's Advice. Type 2 Diabetes: The First Year by Gretchen Becker is an excellent book to help you through this time of uncertainty, and highly recommended by many of our members. Are you on any medication, and have you been prescribed a blood testing meter and strips?
Please ask anything you are unsure of - nothing is considered 'silly', so fire away! 🙂
Welcome Anne. I've only been diagnosed a few months so know how you must be feeling. All your questions will be answered on this forum. The book that Northerner mentioned is excellent by the way.😉
In some areas the NHS runs courses to help you get a grounding in the condition. I attended one called Diabetes X-pert and found it really useful. Others are available (DESMOND being one). Ask your GP or Diabetes Specialist Nurse (DSN) whether anything similar is available in your area if interested.
Hi Anne and welcome to the club that no one wants to join. You've come to a great place for support and advice. Take things one step at a time and ask about anything you're confused or unsure about. We're not doctors but we do our best to point you in the right direction. Take care. XXXXX
