A man with Alzheimer's has been paying hundreds of pounds a month for "unnecessary" utilities and services, his niece has claimed.

Rachel Holdsworth says her uncle, 72, pays bills, including £110 for a Sky TV and phone package, £120 for gas and electric and £35 for boiler servicing.

She said she realised he was making the "unnecessarily large payments" while helping with his finances.

Sky has apologised and said it hoped to find the best deal for her uncle.

Not sure why Sky should have been aware of this mans mental state, however I believe that even £10 is too much for Sky, get Freesat instead.

I've never looked at having Sky and have no idea of it's prices. £110 doesn't surprise me.
The article suggests he hasn't changed his supply/tariff for gas and electric since privatisation. That's quite some time ago.

I don't see anything wrong with Sky. I like to watch latest release films without prudery cuts and no adverts, I like to watch every ball of cricket matches, and I like watching sport and films in 4K Ultra HD. What's not to like?

I agree with earlier comments. You can't expect Sky, or other services to know the mental state of its customers.

Shows that it's essential for family members to look at bills, if a relative is having cognitive problems.
