Former head of the Test and Trace programme, Dido Harding, has come under fire after The Sunday Times reported that she wants to end the NHS’ “reliance on foreigners” if she is appointed chief executive of the health service.

According to the paper, Harding, 53, wants to challenge the government view that it is better to encourage medical professionals to come to the UK from overseas because of the huge cost of training a doctor.

On Friday it was revealed that the Tory peer has applied to become the next NHS boss, replacing Sir Simon Stevens who will stand down at the end of July.

This is despite Harding having previously faced strong criticism for her management of Test and Trace, with a report by the House of Commons’ Public Accounts Committee in March finding that the programme – used to identify infections and ‘contact trace’ anyone who may have been in close contact with a person infected with Covid – used up “unimaginable” amounts of taxpayers’ money.

I'd highly recommend watching this doctor's views on the possibility of Dido Harding taking over as NHS CEO (14 minutes, eloquently delivered 🙂 ) Whatever your political viewpoint she is clearly unsuitable for such an important role :(

That's a bit rich - when the people who were working for her appear to have been recruited and organised by companies with off shore addresses and it appears to have been something of a scam, with employees unable to get tax rebates as the money deducted from their wages was not paid to the government.

The doctor clearly sets out why Dido Harding should not be CEO of NHS England. That will have no effect on the government, she may well be installed as a puppet ahead of Michael Gove’s plan to organise a top down rearrangement of NHS England.

She also nails every single lie told by the government, particularly the 5 million strong waiting list as being “due to Covid” , as the waiting list before Covid reached our shores was 4 million.

The current government is in serious danger of alienating its core voters. This was shown dramatically by the by-election result with a resounding victory for the LibDems. This was largely achieved by voting for anyone but the Tory candidate. Jeremy Corbyn leaving the scene freed that up. All across the South, Tory MPs like Gove, Johnson, Rees-Mogg, are at risk of this effect. Some folk think that Johnson wants to have a general election by abolishing the 5 year term Act. If he did that now, he would be washed away.

There's certainly a dawning realisation among a lot of smug and complacent individuals that not everyone who is a 'traditional' Tory voter loves Brexit, Boris and the current populist UKIP incarnation of the Tory party, or their conduct in office since December 2019 - vaccine or no vaccine.
