Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hello I'm Maria! I'm a newbie to this group but not to diabetes. I was diagnosed 9 years ago and have spent most of that time trying to deny it. There is at least 4 generations of diabetes in my family plus I've had gestational diabetes during 3 of my 4 pregnancies. I now have a Specialist Diabetic Nurse, Nia helping me to manage my diabetes and to not keep burying my head in the sand. Nia recommended this group, although I must warn you all that I am not terribly good at expressing myself.

Hi and welcome from a fellow T2 who's 15 months in.

Hi Maria, welcome to the forum 🙂 How wise of Nia to recommend us to you! 😉 Are you on any medication for your diabetes? Please feel free to ask any questions you may have - nothing is considered 'silly', so if it is bothering or confusing you, please ask! 🙂

Hi Maria, well your first post is a good start. I see some of myself in your description,(not gestational tho) I too ignored my diabetes and just expected the meds to keep me right. I have no excuses as I know plenty about diabetes and its complications as I brought up my daughter who's a type 1. Sounds like you know a bit from your family too. Anyway I turned my corner this January after a week in hospital, I think once you decide you want to take control your more than half way there, the other half aint easy by the way, but there's plenty of folk on here that will try to help you. Good Luck Al

Welcome on board. The people here are very helpful.

Good to have you on the forum Maria.
Lots of people here to help you.

Hi Maria
Welcome aboard, you can say as much or as little as you like on here, it just helps to know there are others out there who know what it's like. Hope you find it useful 🙂

Hi Maria, welcome!
Good luck, and don't forget to let us know how you are doing - it's great to share the good and the bad, and like lots of people I find that talking to others is a great help to keep things in perspective (even if it isn't my natural reaction to a problem!).

Hi and welcome to the forum :D
