Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hello Everyone,
Just joined the forum but I've been Type 1 for 26 years! Wow doesn't that that sound like a long time??!! You think you'd get used to it but sometimes you feel like it's all new.
Recently went to a DAFNE Group Meeting and it made me realise just how nice it is to speak to people who understand what it's like living with diabetes - the good, the bad and the ugly lol 😉 so thought i would join this forum and say Hi 🙂

Hi vickih, welcome to the forum 🙂 There are quite a few people in your position - I think that when you have been diagnosed for a long time they somehow assume that they don't need to tell you about anything. Good to hear that someone decided you'd benefit from DAFNE! What insulin regime are you on? How have things been for you over the years?

Thanks Northerner, yes things do change and you don't always get to know! DAFNE was good - learning your own ratio and correction units was very helpful.
i take Levermir morning and night 14 units each and then Humalog for my Quick Acting - Ratio's were all 2:1 but recently changed my lunch time one to 2.5:1 which i hope will help. i don't think i've been too bad over the years but you do sometimes get a bit blase about things and you need to give yourself a kick up the bum and look at things with fresh eyes again.
i have been looking at the forum for a few weeks now and read some things that have made me think, so i maybe be asking questions in the future!
