Whilst not directly about Diabetes in it's many forms, this does throw up some serious questions...

There was a similar article in the Saturday Times a few weeks ago, about a doctor who gave up UPFs even to the extent of avoiding ketchup and the like. He admitted he was lucky in that he could afford to do so, and that the majority of the population just couldn't cope with the cost. He lost shedloads of weight, felt better, slept better and his piles disappeared! Think he was happiest about the latter condition 😉

That is such an interesting article and definitely making me wonder if I should cut the coke zero and vegetarian/vegan alternatives... Has reading the article made you reconsider any of your food/purchasing choices?

I am certainly more mindful of what I buy and trying to drink less manufactured food and drink.
I cut down on my consumption of diet drinks like cola and even flavoured sparkling water by "diluting" them with tap water, so I started off with 3/4 of a glass of diet cola and topped it up with water and now I have just a quarter of a glass of cola and the rest water and I find that is sweet and flavoured enough. This summer however I am making a conscious effort to drink less of them and I am having glasses of tap water with a slice of lemon, cucumber, apple and a sprig of mint and that provides plenty of interesting flavour without adding anything processed. It amazes me that if I give it a good stir to bruise the mint a bit and leave it to stand for a while I can pick out all the individual flavours, even the cucumber and they all work together really well. What I should do is make up a big jug, but there isn't room in the fridge for it.
