To anyone using Amlodipine please read the information leaflet supplied with this medication. My husband has been really ill today because he failed to realise that grapefruit should not be eaten whilst taking amlodipine. The label on the front of the box made no mention of this fact but, looking online, I found the following:-

Grapefruit contains chemicals that can interfere with the enzymes that your body uses to break down certain medications. When this happens, the amounts of medication in your body can build up and cause serious side effects. Amlodipine is one of the medications that might be affected by grapefruit juice.

It's his own fault really but how many of us just go ahead and do as our doctor tells us. I was really worried as I thought he was having a heart attack.

I do hope your hubby is feeling better now. One of the reactions with grapefruit is deffo statins, but I didn't know BP meds did too!
