Relationship to Diabetes

Amanda Bailey may be the ?baby? of her family, but she is the ?big sister? to two kindred spirits at Grand Saline schools. A 16 year-old high school sophomore, she was the first student at the campus to be diagnosed with type I diabetes (T1D, also known as juvenile diabetes) seven years ago. She is now helping two other students learn the lessons of how to cope with a life-threatening disease.
Abby Barrett and Seth Blake, both in middle school, were diagnosed in 2010 with T1D, so the three of them and their parents are working together to educate teachers and students alike about what it takes to manage this condition.
