Yes it’s a great result.

(Usual caveats that it’s been achieved without hypos or disordered eating practices)

Thank you, ive totally changed my eating habits,I’ve lost some weight and feeling good,I will continue to keep a close eye on this but thankfully all the effort has been worth it.

Sometimes those estimated HbA1cs can be a little lower than results from your surgery.

When are you due a follow-up appointment @Toddyken ?

Are you planning to move into more of a ‘maintenance phase’ with your menu and self monitoring?

Well done on the great progress you‘ve made so far 🙂

I’m going to ask my GP for another test , the changes I’ve made are from all the recommendations on this site , it’s been invaluable , my ‘sweet tooth ‘ has been dreadful so In a way I am glad for the wake up call before I was diabetic, if I’d carried on I would certainly have gone down that road .My thoughts are to not test now for a month then do as I have been doing , testing at least 3 times a day , does that sound okay , thanks .

@Toddyken congratulations on your great results.
Bear in mind that a HBA1C is effectively an average of the last 3 months.
Looking back through your posts, I think you were diagnosed last month so any test now would still include a fair amount of "data" from before you started your new "life".
Therefore, your GP would probably not agree to a retest for a couple more months at the earliest.

Getting an updated HbA1c sounds like a good plan, though as @helli says it can help to space them approx 3 months apart to prevent too much overlap.

Are you finding 3x a day helpful? Are you able to make changes and tweaks based on the basis of each day’s results?

If you only need a ‘maintenance’ background impression of how things are going - and you are eating things you!ve already tested and pretty much know you can rely on, you may decide you dont need much more than a few checks a week.

Though if you are still settling in and trying new things, then obviously more data can be helpful 🙂

Thanks Helli, im learning so much everyday from this site, agree unlikely that my GP would retest yet, I suppose I may just have to accept MySugar results for now, tbh I’ve been so determined to improve on my numbers to to see 36.1 2 days ago I was soooo happy.

Everything you say is so helpful, I’ve monitored rising , before and after meals and my numbers change but only within the acceptable increase, I’m certainly hoping from my numbers I am out of Pre-D range , my thoughts are leave testing for a week or so then repeat as ive done this month. I realise this is probably something I will have to visit often just to keep an eye on it, it’s certainly been a wake up call.
