I just thought I would create a thread for alternative breakfasts to cereal as there is already a cereal thread

this morning I decided 'no porridge'.... and I didn't have any yogurt left in the fridge .... so I had sunflower and pumpkin seed Ryvita and cheddar cheese

1.5 slices of Ryvita with 20g cheese

BG before eating = 7.1
1 hour after = 10.1
2 hours after = 7.3

anyone else want to give it a try?

or another breakfast?

I'm struggling with breakfast..... thinking of pretending it is lunch and having a salad lol

Mine was ...

Quorn sausages (grilled)
Bacon (grilled)
fried mushrooms
fried egg
1 thin slice of seeded granary bread.

It'll be a while before I'll have it again, but it was a change for me.

taken from my post in the other thread:

morning test level 8.1
1 hour after the banana custard - 10.7
2 hours aftrer - 8.4

yet when I had banana custard as a pudding a few days ago, it was fine!!

was that bananas and custard or a banana custard???
custard for breakfast  interesting

Andy..... wow 😱 .... that was some breakfast!!! (yummy though) and what did it do to your BG levels? I assume they were fine.
what worries me about a breakfast like that is how it affects my cholesterol. as my DSN said I have to reduce it by the time we meet again :(

ps.... I've only been diagnosed just over a month and I'm sick of it already. so it can go away.... I don't like it :(

I like Greek yoghurt topped with a selection of nuts and a tablespoon of flax seeds.

Poached egg on Portabello mushroom

scrambled eggs with bacon and mushroom

Organic peanut butter with celery, ham and gherkins

Sometimes, I even have home made hummus with crudities, dependent on my mood!

Just about the best breakfast for a non-insulin-dependent Type 2 is good old-fashioned bacon and egg - with or without mushrooms or tomatoes. Maybe sausages too but they will need to be those with a high meat content because some are fairly high in carbohydrate. Grilled preferably but fried if you prefer.

Meals just the same as our grandparents would likely have been eating.

That sort of breakfast will do no harm whatsoever to your blood glucose levels. Personally, these days, I wouldn't even waste strips by testing it out.
