Even though I was only diagnosed a month ago - I am already being a bit cocky and due to things I have learned, I have started to change my meds routine without permission! I was given metformin (only twice a day) and told it takes four months to kick in and so was also given Zicron (also twice a day) in order to help my symptoms more quickly. I was warned that the Zicron acts quickly to lower the sugars and so I must not skip meals etc. Now that it has been four weeks from the start and I do exercise and have improved my already fairly healthy diet, I found that taking the Zicron after breakfast as well as the Metformin - by the time it came to around 12.30 - 1pm my bg was down to 3.8 and I didn't feel so good. I worked out that I didn't need the Zicron so early as I figure that breakfast is not a big meal and I am fairly active during the morning. So I decided to take it after lunch instead. Bingo - I dont feel wobbly before lunch now. Clever me - or not?

You are doing well with things. If you feel confident about not needing one of your drugs have a chat with your doctor or nurse and ask for a review too. It will help them help you.

Sounds like the change of timing was just what was needed 🙂 It might be worth booking an appointment with your doctor to discuss the changing requirements as it may mean you need different medication or different doses 🙂
