Hi. Anyone on Alogliptin? Any comments? I've been switched to it, having been on Metformin for several months.

I'm not - but why did the doc say he was changing it?

I have been on it year and before that a number of years on another in the same family. I have no problem with it.

I have been taking alogliptin for a year now alongside slow release metformin and have no issues at all

If you are worried about the effect of Alogliptin on kidney function you could check the ‘patient information leaflet’ in the box, which should list any common concerns. Or speak to your pharmacist who will have detailed knowledge of meds and potential interactions. Though tbh if your kidneys were causing concern your GP should know which meds are contraindicated and should avoid them.
