Smoking is bad for anyone, but particularly so for people with diabetes. For anyone who does and wants to stop, I'd thoroughly recommend this book. 14 years ago I'd tried everything to stop. It was this time of year, and Channel 4 put on a programme featuring Allen Carr and his stop smoking clinic. I was taken by the programme and decided to see if he had written a book about it. This was Friday evening. On the following morning I'd bought the book, by Sunday evening I had read it (it's a short book!), and I have never smoked since. This was after 20 years as a smoker and repeated failed attempts to stop.
I was so impressed that I started spreading the word where I worked. People bought the book or borrowed mine and more long-term smokers gave up within days. They lent it to their wives/husbands/mothers-in-law etc. and they too stopped. Within weeks the whole company was non-smoking! The only thing we found was that women seemed less convinced and found it more difficult, but I see that there is now a version specifically for women.
I know it sounds too good to be true, but it really is very effective. It's only the price of a packet of ciggies, and it'll save you far more than money🙂 When I was diagnosed they did an angiogram to check my arteries - they were, and I quote the cardiologist, 'Pristine'! Had I not read this book I shudder to think what he might have found.
It's got 519 reviews on amazon and a 5-star average rating.
