How the story unfolded of Alessandra Pacchieri's forced caesarean-section and the removal of her baby.

Alessandra Pacchieri was worried about money, worried about losing her chance of a job and worried about the unborn baby inside her. She was taking drugs to help with her mood swings, a result of bipolar disorder, but she had stopped taking them because of her fear that the baby would be harmed.

?The label on the medicine contains a warning that it can cause death to pregnant women or an unborn baby,? she said last week, after the story of what happened to her became headline news around the world. It was first revealed in The Sunday Telegraph, provoking widespread outrage that a woman should be forced to have a caesarean section against her will and then have the baby taken away by social services.
