Diabetes patients are urged to check a brand of insulin cartridge after a pack is found labelled wrongly
13th September 2012 - Diabetes patients using Hypurin Porcine Isophane insulin cartridges are being urged to check their prescription after a packaging error came to light which could mean they have been issued with the wrong medication.
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) said the problem came to light when a carton for cartridges of intermediate acting Hypurin Porcine Isophane Insulin 100 IU/ml got into the production line for the short acting Hypurin Porcine Neutral Insulin 100IU/ml.
It said this could mean a patient finds that their insulin wears off earlier than expected.
