Found some "spaghetti" in Aldi. It was not really spaghetti but something resembling spaghetti made out of soya and endamame beans. It was in green packaging making much of the fact that it was gluten free. What attracted me was that contained only 6.6g of carbohydrate per 50g portion. Had a weighed portion with with roast chicken and roast mixed veg for tea - total carb less than 10g. Was ok, I've had worse real spaghetti.

Anyway, tested 1.5 hours later and bg was 5.2. Normally I would have had a small portion of potatoes and a bg somewhere between 6 and 8 as a consequence so it seems to live up to its label. One for the store cupboard.

Will be looking for this, MrS is really missing pasta.

you get black bean spaghetti etc as well 🙂 I've never tried any of them as not brave enough to which is a shame as I was a huge pasta and spaghetti fan xx

I have these sometimes. There's 3 flavours. They are part of the Aldi specials (middle aisles) but seem to pop up on a fairly regular basis as it has the Aldi branding on the back.

I was in Aldi this morning, I spotted buckwheat pasta twirls, but the carbs on that were too high so I did not buy.
Glad you something to have for a change.

Its a bit like real spaghetti in that it does not taste of much in itself. Its primary purpose is to carry the sauce. Have a go and if you don't like it then roll it up into a ball and give it to bubbles to play with.

it's not that (well it partly is too) I'd still have to cover it with insulin and if I didn't like it I'd be in a bit of trouble trying to quickly find something with the same amount of carbs I'd injected for, Bubbles needs no encouragement, Bruce discovered the other night that he'd thrown the bit away that was supposed to lock the cream with that the Dr gave him only Bubbles went and pulled it out from god knows where today, was either under the TV unit or coffee table but he's now he's an absolute star in his dads eyes lol xx

I use these in place of pasta all the time.
I like my bolognaise so it is great to have found an alternative ‘carrier’.
