Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi I’m trying to figure out my diet as a newly diagnosed type 2. I’m trying to cut out carbs, sugars and alcohol. I’m reading all I can about the first two but it’s the latter I’m unsure about. My husband and I have the habit of taking one small glass of red wine (no more) every night with dinner, not bad for the heart they say but can I still do this with diabetes? Please advise … thanks

With diabetes, the biggest concern is carbs. There are very few carbs in wine ... but significantly more in beer.
There may be quite a few calories which is something consider if you are also trying to lose weight.

Dry red wine is fine. Enjoy!

I‘m not sure I would set too much store in the occasional journalistic claims about the heart benefits personally, but BG-wise I don’t seem to get any problems from a glass or two of red wine 🙂

Enjoy!
