hmmm Might be a controversial one this...

One of the best threads ive seen throughout the numerous forums was Bevs food nights in - a real eye opener, and one that attracted me to frequent this forum more than the others..

After reading another recent post by AM64 on what alcoholic drinks work for you... I wondered if there was any scope for conducting some "Controlled" Alcohol consumption testing and seeing the effect on BG in the same way as Bevs food night in!?

I would love to but I'm about to start some uncontrolled drinking over the next few nights:D

Haha, possibly best conducted after xmas!

Well only thing is we can't see each other so someone could be saying there drinking with control but in fact could be mortal and you will be to blame lmao :D

Maybe ill conduct these experiments my self!! I dont want to take responsiblity for people falling over, singing lots, walking with a stagger and hugging strangers!

You don't have to hug strangers Benny, it's not compulsory as long as you tell them you love them ....... :D

I do all that stone cold sober

So is it the level of drunkenness or blood sugar that is being measured...?

🙂

Hi bennyg70,

Thanks for reading the thread! It was good fun doing that and like you say a real eye-opener on how differently everyone reacts to certain foods. I dont think Alex is up to drinking just yet as he's 14 - but if you do it I will take great note as we need to know what to expect!:D When we went to FFL they advised that teenagers shouldnt bother doing a bolus for alcohol and certainly not do a TBR on their pump - the reason being that if your a little squiffy it would be dangerous to try to make decisions under the influence - which I thought a good idea. They did say for them to eat something around midnight to try to stop the later low - and deal with the high numbers the next day. But I know this is just for teenagers due to thier 'risk taking' phase and probably wont apply to adults.🙂Bev

Very interesting thread and I would be up for a night in drinking. Just to be sociable. 😉
I find I need to bolus for lager then run with -20% tbr until about 3pm the next day to avoid lows.

How accurate would the typing be after it though? 😱

Maybe it's just as well the blood testing machines have the date and time on them. :D :D

I am sure there was a similar thread some years go but I am rotten at searching! Anyway I am game but I think it needs to be sensible; e.g. three pints, two large (250 ml) glasses of wine, etc. max! 🙂 Maybe Guinness first?
