Hey everyone, I’m sure I’m very behind the times
But I thought I’d share my experience with an air frier, I reluctantly was relieved of a hefty lump of cash a couple of weeks ago for a Phillips air frier (other friers are available) and I have to say it is the best thing I have bought in a very long time.
I would recommend them to everyone who is taking care of their diet.
Thy are fast, very clean and you can cook more or less everything in them, I had a steak out of it at the weekend and it was perfectly cooked. I have a few more accessories coming to allow me to do more things like omelettes and things like.
they are a bit pricey but the savings you will make in a year or so by using your oven less, would surely pay for it and more.
Lots of great recipe ideas on you tube too

Nearly bought one last year when wife started Slimming World diet, thought be handy instead of using fats in cooking as way to cut calories.

I’m cooking everything in it, and thinking to buy another one.
Next year we’re putting a new kitchen in and I’m also considering not to have an oven, if it can make Yorkshire puddings that will clinch it, we will see on Sunday lol

Lidl do a very good oven as well 🙂

You can make anything in an airfryer that you can make in an oven - usually a little faster.

I bought one a couple of years ago, and my OH was extremely sceptical, voicing it was likely this year's sandwich toaster (a universal terms for a gadget that seems like a great idea, is used once, the takes up space, unused).

Nowadays, we agreed it if went pop, we'd buy another in a heartbeat.

Ours is a chamber sort, as opposed to a drawer/basket style. It fits more in and can easily cook multiple items at the same time.

My Tefal Actifry is quite old - when I bought some spares for it there was an expression of surprise at the model number. It simply turns the food around in the pan. If all it did was cook chicken thighs it would be worth the money - they come out crispy and delicious, and I can then cook stirfry in the juices left behind whilst I keep the chicken warm in the halogen oven.
As I use cast iron cookware on the gas rings and in the main oven I don't usually add any fat to anything much - my main concern with any cooking process is that it doesn't dry out or burn the food, which I seem to have got very well sorted out now.

I don't know much about air fryers but I've just been googling a few, and the prices vary enormously. Can anyone recommend the best size one for just two people (as it's us and the cat at home now)?

There are only two of us too. We have this one:

It's great, but there are many, many just like it out there, from under £100. Lidl do a lookeee-likeeee model, for £80, although I have only seen them do it once.

A friend of mine recently bought this one, which is similar, although not exactly the same: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08DYG3...olid=266YF8HXE6ZP8&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

That’s very brave but you may come unstuck of you ever want to sell. A kitchen without an oven would be a hard sell I’d say.

I’d be putting in a convection oven in instead which is basically what an air frier

I got my air frier from Wilkinson's online £40. I did not want to spend a great deal on one if it was something that was not going to be useful but I love it! I can do a full English in it- including the eggs!
