We want to hear your views about how your type 2 diabetes is managed by the NHS. We will use the information you provide to see whether we could develop specific programmes which are tailored to the needs of older adults with type 2 diabetes. This project is being run by Dr Nicola Guess at the University of Oxford and Rebecca Lawton who is a specialist diabetes dietitian at Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust. We would like you to complete a short questionnaire which we think will take 10-15 mins. Please visit the link below for more information and to participate. You will be given a £12 voucher as a thank you for completing the questionnaire. https://app.onlinesurveys.jisc.ac.uk/s/oxford/high-protein-in-older-adults

Does this project have any connection with the New Dawn project?
Hello, thank you for your question, this is separate from the New Dawn project, although with a similar aim of widening the range of options available to support individuals with managing their type 2 diabetes.

Done. Simple and straightforward.

And I've completed it as well...

Completed.

Completed, cheers

Same here - HCPs are a bit bewildered how I altered my situation.
I got a phone call this week to make an appointment to discus my diabetes treatment and it took a couple of minutes for the caller to realise that I am not on medication.

How its managed by the NHS?
It isnt......its managed by me.......
Very little support from health professionals
Correct. The NHS and HCP model of 'delivering treatment' is fundamentally flawed. It is unsustainable.

We need a partnership between the public and the professionals aimed at avoiding the need for treatment.

We have to take responsibility for our own health. To do that we need well presented authoritative advice, and readily available diagnostic services.

Any more for any more? This project is run by Dr Nicola Guess who is programme manager for the New Dawn project sponsored by Diabetes UK.

The survey is easy to complete and there are boxes where you can make suggestions about options available to us to manage our type 2 diabetes. I was hopping mad that my GP did not mention the possibility of remission and did not know that a fatty liver is the precursor to type 2.

I am sure your views will be heard and will make a difference.

Did it yesterday. Very straightforward.

Completed.

Done.

Bearing in mind the current and rising state retirement pension age, is a 60 year old an older person?

Just asking.

Did anyone get the voucher? I did the survey and left my email address but nothing so far - but it’s a holiday weekend so if not an automated process then i guess it’ll be next week
