Hi all,

I have recently been diagnosed and am wondering what some of the hi sugars in my diet could be.
I replaced sugar with Agave Nectar several years ago, is this a good replacement to sugar or is it doing more harm than good.
it contains 66.11g per 100g / 3.04g per 1tsp (4.6g)
 
I've never tried Agave Nectar but have heard that it's just as bad as sugar.
 
I think you have to make your own mind up and try it and see what it does to your blood glucose levels. It is fructose which does have bad effects on you if you consume too much. See this article: http://www.foodrenegade.com/agave-nectar-good-or-bad/
I am not sure about the claims of highly processed, there was an bit on one of the food programs that showed it being made,and the Wiki article does imply much chemical interaction. Having said that if you can avoid it it is probably best.
 
So drinking two cups of coffee a day with 1 spoon of sugar would be better ?
 
coffee without sweetener would be better, it doesn't take much willpower. Took me 2 weeks to wean myself off sugar and now I couldn't stand a coffee or tea with sugar or sweetener.
 
I gave up sugar in tea & coffee over 20 years ago. And I used to have 3 sugars!😱
 
I stopped having sugar in tea or coffee 40 years ago, i too gradually cut down till i was only having on the tip of the spoon, before stopping.
 
Nectar is sugar. If you want to feed a bee, (or a hummingbird) just make up a sugar syrup. That's what nectar tastes like, bees don't know the difference, and neither does your body.
