Note sent to GP practice asking if they test for brain cell function when they employ pharmacists to go through prescriptions.

The bleep has removed
Sharps bin
syringes
lancets
and reduced my insulin and blood testing strips.

We've all got to try and make do in these difficult times 😱 😉 Let's face it Sue, you must have had gallons of insulin over the years, so it's obviously not working if you still need it 😱 :D

I recently got a letter from my surgery asking if I'd like to participate in a trial of a new medication for people with Type 2. It said I had been identified as a possible candidate... 🙄

As I just mentioned on another thread, my insulin and blood testing strips were reduced by half at the end of last year. As one could then have face-to-face appointments on request, I arranged to see a doctor who was clearly ignorant of the number of units potentially available in a vial. I explained the meaning of 100 units/ml, the fact that some are lost in venting or at the end of a reservoir, and that insulin dose requirements vary in ways that may not always be predicted. Lancets and sharps bins disappeared completely, though I have just managed to get lancets reinstated. Over recent years, I have little evidence of pharmacists being actively involved in dispensing repeat prescriptions, though I accept they must nominally be present and approve the procedure.

Hi John,
if you have access to online prescribing and your medical records you can see who has removed items from your prescription.

I tore them off a strip earlier this year when a pharmacist decided it was cheaper to put all patients with Addison's disease on to cortef sp* rather than hydrocortisone. no one realised it was a different dosage required neither did they take into account that the tablets were almost impossible to split if you have arthritic fingers.
I got my HC back pdq.
 
I think ( and sincerely hope) that our pharmacist is much more clued up.

It is so frustrating that this happens, and I know several high profile HCPs who are equally frustrated by this sort of lack of understanding :(

I‘ve had this happen a few times, and always been met with apology when getting things reinstated, but it is so unnecessary!

The Cortef lark could have been fatal to some people with Addison's due to the dosage difference, no one seems to take any responsibility though since the practice has been taken over.

I've been waiting since July for my GP who I have never met to write a letter to chase up an urgent Endo apt which I have been waiting 12 months for already. 6 weeks to talk to him about help regarding choking on food (MS related I suspect)

Looking on the bright side though at least they can't stick covid related on my death certificate 🙂
