you weren't terribly low so maybe just needed a little help to come back up. Did you have any warning signs or symptoms?
In most cases three jelly babies or a fun sized can of full fat coke helps followed by some digetstive biscuits or some bread and butter a short time later or a meal if you are due one does the trick.
Have the jelly babies or sugary treatment, test in 15 minutes and repeat till things come back to normal (between 4 and 7).
I'm sure some one will be along soon with more accurate advice soon
For a reading of 3.9mmol/l either a glass of milk or a digestive biscuit would be more than enough - no need for all 3. Unless you'd given yourself too much insulin, for example.
Are you still only on Metformin? If so then I wouldn't worry about a reading of 3.9, you shouldn't get a hypo on Metformin alone. Did you have any hypo symptoms?
