Hi all,

I'm currently waiting on results from my OGTT and hbac1 test, also urine test too. can anyone advise how long these take? i had them taken on monday. I have not been diagnosed with diabetes. I went to my GP after suffering headaches, feeling lethargic, dizziness and hair loss, and constantly feeling hungry, mostly craving sweet things.

I had blood taken a few weeks ago which showed my glucose at 6.9. This was taken first thing so I had not eaten. I was thinking of calling my surgery. I feel so down and just want to know x

Hi Welcome. The waiting for results is horrible. I just want to reassure you that if it turns out you have joined our select club, its a condition that with the right info and a bit of effort can be managed well ! IMO their are a lot worse conditions than this to have. Though I fully understand that right now you are in a scary place, we were all there onceso we do understand.
Feel free to ask questions.

Hi welcome, blood tests should be back within 7 days, though I have had blood taken on a Friday and a call from the GP on the Sunday saying I need to come and see them, one advantage of the docs being in the hospital grounds and open 7 days a week. Don't know about the OGTT test as never had one.

Easily within a week and often by the next day!! Have to say with our docs, if they come back 'normal' they don't contact you - but if not they tend to ring you PDQ.

I'm wondering with the tiredness and your hair falling out - have they tested you for Thyroid probs? If they haven't and the diabetes ones are fine - I think you ought to ask for them to be done - just Google the symptoms if you want to know why I'm suggesting it.
