At risk of diabetes
Hello, I'm from a family with a history of diabetes and at an age where I'm at risk of pre-diabetes. I've been concerned about this for some time, particularly as I've felt a bit low energy over the last year. I am in the process of making some life changes (better nutrition, getting more iron into my diet to address very low iron blood levels, losing some weight, etc). As part of this I have started tracking my blood glucose levels. I am not on any diabetes medication.

I have taken these readings over the last 5 days. Can a few kind members of the community provide me with input on whether these readings are anything to be concerned about? Any general advice would also be much appreciated. Thank you.

They look spectacular.
The aim for people with diagnosed Type 2 is 4-7mmol/l fasting and before meals and no more than 8mmol/l 2 hours post meal.

Perfectly normal readings for a none diabetic person. Just to add, this is in no way a medical opinion

I get similar readings now but I’m medicated and carb restricted :D

Get a hba1c test and find out for sure if you're concerned, but those readings look OK.

Thanks so much folks - taking these readings has put my mind a bit at ease on the diabetes front, but not getting complacent and going to make lifestyle changes before I'm forced to. I think some of my issues (low energy and skin issues) stem from low iron levels, so will definitely get my bloods tested (after losing a bit of weight and eating lamb for 21 days straight to boost my iron levels!).

Also, doing this is really helping me to help my Mother with her diabetes (she's on insulin). Now I'm doing finger pricks and watching the carbs, I certainly understand the "lay of the land" better.

Thanks again and wish everyone a great weekend.
