In early 2020, upon recommendation by leading endocrinologists, American Diabetes Association lowered the target hemoglobin A1C guidelines for children with type 1 diabetes. Their goal in recommending stricter glucose control was to ensure children with type 1 diabetes have better immediate and long-term health outcomes with fewer health complications and reduced mortality rates. Researchers now discuss the evidence and rationale behind this new recommendation.

Well in USA they don't have ONE body which decides such things - every state is each the equivalent of a separate country so if you get a representative Expert from 50+ countries round a table trying to agree anything at all, I daresay it's like mud wrestling!

Mike - @everydayupsanddowns - served on one of the Review panels for the T1 Guidelines a few years ago with his Expert Patient hat on - and I recall he thought there were several things that could have been better but unless when saying 'Hang on - wouldn't be better to change that and say XYZ instead of ABC, for the reasons that FGH, MNO and QRS' - unless all the Experts agree with this thinking, it doesn't get included.

Look how extra long it takes the FDA to authorise new drugs in comparison to the MHRA !!

We are A LOT more forward in any number of fields than America, end of story.
