Hey Guys, I'm in the mid of writing an action plan of what to discuss in my consultant appointment tomorrow 🙂 Being very organised ! I'd appreciate any inputs, anything that you think may be worth mentioning...
Here are my 'notes' so far. Apologies they are completely all over the place as I am yet to organise them.

  • HbA1c & Anemia
  • Slow-onset progression
  • insulin over tablets
  • fast or long acting insulin best
  • recent symptoms; stomach aches, kidney pains, heartbeat
  • Possible thyroid problems - also why that "on thyroxine" is always ticked on my BT forms
  • c-peptide test, antibodies test ICA, IA2
  • Insulin resistance possibilty as low carb ?
  • L.A.D.Y. articles
  • diet/carbs do not want to change this!
  • possibilty of night hypos on insulin

quite a list! Thanks for all your help guys 🙂

It is quite a list Liz, but then you are certainly a special case I think 😉 Are you going with anyone to act as a second pair of ears? Don't be afraid to ask your questions and then ask for a few moments to take down notes. If something they say doesn't really answer your question then say so or ask what can be done to provide an answer.

My list is usually must shorter than yours, but hopefully you won't be rushed through the appointment and can get some, if not all, the answers and feel it has gone well. Good luck! 🙂

When you say LADY did you mean LADA ? or MODY? or both ? LOL

haha LADY is Latent Autoimmune Diabetes of the Young! It has been recognised! I have a name for it. Hoping he will agree that is what to call me.

No point in MODY unless ALL my antibodies come back negative... then it would be worth investigating further.

Yes Northerner, my mums coming with! She said herself she doesnt understand any of it haa, but at least shes there to listen.

Always good to have some moral support! 🙂

I thought the LADY was either a typo of LADA or that you meant articles from ypauly's favourite magazine:

Liz, you and I are very similar and when I see my consultant again in Jan or Feb I will have a similar list - though I already know the answers to some of them through the DSN's, and have already had my c peptide/antibody tests of course...

And I don't have the kidney/stomach things etc. I am also anaemic too though! It does affect an HbA1C result. Are you on iron?

Good luck - please let me/us know how you get on as I am curious what they say to you, and then will see what mine says to me when I see him!

Sorry, no input from me (I never heard of LADY either😱)
just wanted to wish you good luck for today 🙂

I was never positive for GAD antibodies, so I think he ought to test for the others ICA and IA-2!

Glad you do think it affects HbA1c as i'm 100% sure that is why my HbA1c was so good. Unfortunately my consultant overlooked these as they were actually tested for by him but only I found it! Was on iron tablets for ~3 months. Latest results came back fine! Is that quite quick to fix such a problem?

Thanks for the good luck Laura & Monica! I read a blog post the other day about a little girl who had dressed up for it because she was scared and it gave her confidence.... i'm currently doing my nails! hehe.

I really hope he listens to me and doesn't think 'doctor knows best' :/
