Since I have been on DAFNE I acquired a couple more BG monitors, I really fancied the look of the Accu chek Mobile because everything is together, and less waste from test strip wrappers etc!

Anyway I haven't got the strips on script yet but have been trying it to make sure I like it before I changed anything - it came with a drum of 50 strips.

When I have been doing my BG on my Optium exceed, I then also use the same finger prick on the Accu chek.

Nearly every time there is around a 2mmol different, the accu chek always being the lower one.....thing is if my BG is 6.2 on the accu chek for example I wouldn't correct but when it shows as 8.5 on the Optium I would and that scenario has happened now a few times!

Just wondered if others had the same experience as this.......and now I am trying to decide what one to stick with!

I actually want an Aviva Expert or an Insulinx anyway but my DSN wanted me to wait 6-8 weeks post DAFNE to get one and see how I feel then after doing more of the carb counting and recording stuff.

They all have to fall within a certain level of accuracy of plus or minus 10%, although most are more accurate than this these days. Part of the problem when comparing meters is that a fingerprick test from the same finger at around the same time can give a difference to one just taken - even when using the same meter! I once did 3 tests from the same finger in quick succession and got three different results, so I think that really you need to just stick with and trust one meter and act accordingly. 🙂

I am a pickle for changing over machines. I started off with the Accu-chek Nano, then changed to the Mobile. Then went to the Verio Pro, and have now stuck to the InsulinX. They all varied somewhat, but when you are using one continually, it starts to become the norm. The only way to test accuracy I guess is throught the Hba1c test. The other day, when i tested with the insulinX, it said I was at 3.2. Now before, i would feel hypoey with that figure, so I dont' know if I was in fact higher than that, but I am beginning to trust my body, and I know how I do feel if I am in hypo...
