There are three measuring modes on the Accu Chek Nexus meter-General, AC and PC. I use all three of them, but am curious about whether they would all give the same result; are they simply time of day markers or is there something more significant about the different modes? Any help appreciated.

I am following treatment directions from the local clinic, but am still puzzled why I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. From five days after I got the diagnosis, four months ago, I have finger prick tested my blood at least three times a day and mostly get readings of 5.0 thru' 5.9, but this past week I am getting some readings of 3.9, 4.0 and 4.2-diet and activity same as usual. And today, I woke up to 6.0 after going to bed with 5.2. Are these normal results? Tested the meter-everything OK there.

I think you have your meter brand wrong, Accu-Chek don't do a Nexus meter, from a google I do however see that GlucoRX do have a Nexus

Looking at the online manual it also has four modes rather than 3, General - anytime of day regardless of time since the last meal, AC - no food intake for at least 8 hours, PC - 2 hours after a meal and QC - testing with the control solution, it has no bearing on the result it displays from a test

Are you on any medication?
xx

If you have been getting those numbers as you say for 4 months from testing that many times daily i would say those numbers look absolutely spot on for a non diabetic..how did your clinic determine you had type 2?

Thank you for your replies. Yes, I got the meter name wrong, must have confused it with another app.

No, I don't take any medication. Just following a low carb diet. And I log everything on mysugr app-everything.

In an earlier post I mentioned that many years ago I was hospitalized-only time in my life-with what was described as a disorder of the pancreas. I saw an endocrinologist who told me that the GTT test results for that stay in hospital while outside the normal range were OK for me. Never understood any of it.

A couple of days ago I did a little experiment in the evening, ate some chocolate, some ice cream, a couple of biscuits, and a toasted sandwich-all no nos under my dietary regime. When I got up my b.g. reading was 4.2, and at noon-5.2. I would have thought my b.g. readings would be much, much higher.

So here I am again, all these years later, with b.g. results which say I am not diabetic. I had a blood test for something else 4 months ago, and the result was that the local clinic called me, and told me I was diabetic. Saw a diabetic nurse once, never saw a doctor about the blood tests, still haven't. Am looking to see an endocrinologist and get some answers that make sense to me.

Hope I get the all clear because my fingers are getting sore with all finger pricks.

I expect your levels would've been much higher throughout the period you were eating all those things if you had tested them then xx

Well done on your great blood glucose management so far @baroby

It doesn’t sound like you need to check your blood glucose very frequently with those sorts of results, as long as you keep doing what you are doing - though keeping an occasional eye on things is probably a wise move, just in case your diabetes re-appears 🙂
