Can anyone enlighten me with what there is to go off in an infusion set.
I have a box that are slightly out of date and reluctant to throw them out.

I know if I ask anyone official they would have to say discard them
So has anyone used infusion sets past the use by date without I'll effect.
That way I am only asking for info, and it is me that will make the decision.

No idea! I would imagine it is down to sterility, and the fact that it can only be guaranteed for so long. There may also be some components (eg thin films/membranes/lubricants) which may change with age and need to be used??

Having said that, all my use by dates have always been very very long, so whatever it is can’t happen very suddenly 🙂

Even if something is well within use by date, if packaging is broken or paper has been damp it's no longer sterile. Similarly, an item in intact packaging that hasn't been exposed to extreme temperatures (outside room temperature, which I take to be 0oC to 28oC), remains safe to use past its use by date. That's how I assess items for my own use, but wouldn't use "expired" items for anyone else.

It's probably something to do with the stickability of the sets.

Looking on the practical side of things can the sets read the use by dates? :D
