Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has become the first in the Midlands to receive accreditation for meeting new national standards for its Audiology Service.
The Audiology Service specialises in assessing, diagnosing and treating hearing and balance problems in both adults and children and the team of 17 run the service from both King?s Mill and Newark Hospitals.
It was assessed by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service and found to reach the Improving Quality in Physiological Diagnostic Services (IQIPS) accreditation standard in relation to adult hearing services.
The service sees over 23,000 patients each year and only three other NHS Trusts have achieved this accreditation standard.
