So, my 780G has been dispatched & is on its way. Training booked in for the 7th of January so nearly time to get excited.

Basically I’m very active, gym 6/7 days a week & usually always on my feet with work etc. I don’t really just want to have the pump in my pocket because of the types of cloths I wear. Shorts for the gym and jogging bottoms most other times aren’t the most secure of places to keep your pump with the pockets usually been quite rubbish. In regards to sleeping well I sleep in my birthday suit so again have concerns of waking up say for the toilet or to treat a hypo & jumping out of bed without thinking about my pump.

Im thinking of ordering the Medtronic body belt within the next day or two so that I have it ready for the 7th but I’m just wondering if anyone had any experience with it or any other sort of belts/straps. Advice for everyday life, sleeping & exercise would be perfect.

Thanks.

I love my Hid-in belt. It’s very soft - so much so that I don’t notice it at all. I wear it on my waist under my clothes but it can also be worn round the thigh, etc.

Does your pump come with any cases? I got a clip, two different cases and various soft straps and cases with mine. If you’re not sure, it might be worth waiting to see what extras you get with it.

I wear my Hid-in belt in bed too and it works very well.

Thank you for that, I’ve looked at loads of different belts but not a clue which to pick from.

I honestly don’t have a clue what cases or clips it comes with. I’ve seen that most people get a soft case & a belt clip with there’s, I’ve checked my Medtronic order but it’s all just random order codes & when you copy and paste them into the Medtronic eshop nothing shows up.

Hi @Maco

Whilst wearing my other pump, I have a 60cm tubing (which is the shortest one that Medtronic do) and find that I can just chuck it in the bed with me, and it doesn’t cause any issues. It is long enough that even if I turn over it just rests where it is. You soon get into the habit of grabbing it in night visits. I have only once caught the tubing on a door handle, and even then it didn’t pull the cannula out. I am sure that the Medtronic ones will be the same.

Others have mentioned that they use any old phone belt rather than pay for specific pump ones, but I have not yet researched this. I use a home made pouch hung on my bra for my current one which I have adapted so that I can drop it out to Bolus. Some wear there’s in a pouch on a lanyard round their neck. My pouches had developed over the years and I suspect I will change them again for the new pump. Some have suggested using some tubi grip. I have a crepe bandage which sticks to itself which I think I might use round my thigh when I want to wear a dress. NT the same issues for you but I suspect you will quickly find ways to secure your pump to suit you, and there will be others with their solutions along.

Hi @Maco

My 780 pump arrived with just a belt clip and nothing else. I suspect that were you able to do the training face to face you might have been able to try out some of the other cases etc and if my previous pump is anything to go by goodies were offered by the trainer. Online it is not so easy.

The Hid-in belts aren’t cheap but they’re made with care and I’m extremely happy with mine. I just have two basic black ones. You can choose the case size by pump.

I used to use a belt clip during the day but after my first few pumps, I found the newer pumps had clips that didn’t last as long so now I just stick with my Hid-in. When I wear a dress, I use a Tubigrip around my thigh and slip the pump in that (my pump is a DANA RS).

Think about whether you’ll need to take your pump out during the day too. I don’t because I can control my pump from my phone. Think about your normal clothing and your normal routines. I’d recommend having at least two options, especially if you do sport or are particularly active.

I have a 670G and tried a few pouches and belts without much success.
i do a lot of physical work and found best place is in the pocket, I use a 60cm infusion tube set so there is plenty of spare so I can stretch etc
At night I’m the same I sleep in the nip and the pump just lies in the bed next to me and has never been an issue and I do thrash around a bit, I would say you won’t forget it if you have to get up, and if your using the pump properly you won’t get hypos any more, last one I had was over a year ago in it wasn’t at night.
That’s my pump in auto mode and it will stay around that number all night

On the 780 you will definitely need access to the pump whenever you want to eat, as you can only Bolus on the pump itself.

I second (or is it third?) the Hid-In pump belt.
I have had mine for a few years. I found them cheaper direct from the vendor (Diabetes UK used to sell them) and they send a discount voucher with your purchase so recommend buying one at a time.

I wrapped it twice around my leg at night and when wearing a dress. Otherwise, as a belt with trousers, shorts and skirt.

I use a Spibelt I got from a running shop, used tight for exercise and loose for night time. During day I just keep it in my jeans pocket, but have used the belt all day occasionally if jeans were not “suitable attire“.
