Abasaglar dose

Saw my DSN yesterday and in the conversation, she mentioned that my daily, once a day dose ( can be upto 40units - based on my weight of 87Kg). I have seen references now suggesting .2 per Kg giving a figure of 17.

Is there a way to calculate the figure?

There are guidelines but these are only a starting point but it depends upon many other criteria such as whether you experience any insulin resistance, how much exercise you do, what other medication you are on., ...
The only way to "calculate" how much insulin you need is basal testing - try it and tweak until your BG remains reasonably flat in the absence of other criteria that can affect BG such as exercise and food and fast acting insulin.
