WHETHER it is repairing damage caused by yucca plants or improving sight, a new laser eye service in Bristol has the expertise to deal with the problem. The new clinic inside Bristol Eye Hospital has been set up to provide laser eye surgery for NHS patients with damage to their cornea ? the transparent window at the front of the eye ? to carry out research and also to give private patients who want to correct their vision without glasses or contact lenses an alternative to the high street.

Bringing the service to Bristol means that patients in the city and the rest of the South West no longer have to travel to London for NHS surgery to treat damage to the cornea, while also giving private patients the chance to benefit from the most advanced laser technology in a consultant-led service.

More than 50 procedures ? both private and NHS ? have been carried out at the clinic within the city centre hospital since March and the aim is to increase the number of patients in its second year.
