I have just come back from lunch and I still do not believe it. I have just seen a rather large gentleman consume a big bag of sweets and the best part of a litre of full fat coke. When his friend/companion challenged him the chap said his friend was diabetic and had hypos because of lack of sugar and they were scary and he didn't want the same to happen to hi.

Fortunately I had some slips of paper with our forum adress written on it, so I suggested he came and took a look here...

Good grief Caroline, I don't belieeeeeeeeeeeeeve it! Sheena

Although you can't get diabetes from eating too much sugar, all that would be putting enormous stress on his pancreas! Clearly he doesn't know that a normally sufficient treatment for a hypo is 15g sugar, not 1.5kg! 😱

Hopefully the gentleman in question will be back at his desk and taking a look at us, but I doubt it.

Reminds me of this post I made to a now-sadly-dormant mailing list (I hope that link works)... 😱

How on earth can you eat 1.5kg of honey every day for 10 days? Interesting that his blood sugar climbed so high, given that he wasn't diabetic - I suppose there is a limit to how much insulin can be manufactured by the body, and he exceeded it 😱 My highest level was 38 mmol/l at diagnosis, which also happens to be 666 mg/dl 😱

There's nothing like taking things to the extreme🙄

Did they call in a DSN or an exorcist? 😱 😉

I used to be bad with treacle and would go dip a teaspoon in it every so often, but it was only a teaspoonfull once in a while. I wont keep treaclein the house now as I still want to dip the teaspoon in...
